You know what they say! A chicken liver recipe with apples a day keeps the doc-....well, OK. I’m elaborating a bit!
Just a bit!
Everyday I eat an apple just because I love them.
And you know, if you’ve been around my recipe site, I love chicken livers too.
So I thought, why not try both together? Will it work?
Why not tell me?!
So, here’s a very nice dinner idea that has a surprise taste twist.
And it’s very, very simple to make. Look!
500 g of chicken liver
50 g of flour
400 g apples
Salt, pepper, sugar, marjoram
Juice from one lemon
3 green onions
Wash and rinse the chicken livers.
Trim and remove any fat if there is any.
Cut any of the larger pieces in half.
Sprinkle the livers with salt and pepper, and some of the flour.
Sauté the seasoned chicken livers in oil over medium heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Put aside when finished
Wash the apples. Cut into slices. Remove the seeds.
Pour lemon juice over the apple slices. This way they won’t get brown when you cook them. Plus, it preserves all the vitamins! Isn’t that nice?
Sauté the apples in oil over low to medium heat for 5 minutes - 7 minutes maximum. Sprinkle with salt, sugar, and marjoram. Mix well. Remove from heat when done.
In a small baking dish arrange the sautéed chicken livers in layers.
Chop the green onions and sprinkle over the livers.
Cover the liver and onions with apples.
Bake 10-15 minutes at 180°C/350°F.
For starters, a nice, green garden salad will be the perfect introduction for this lovely meal.
And rice will be a perfect light side!
I hope you enjoy this recipe with apples!
Bon Appetit!
